 April 2025: I Turned 73

W h a t?
How did that number end up after my name?

Seriously—73?

Shock aside, I did what I’ve learned to do in other pivotal life moments:
I got curious.
I slowed down and asked better questions.

Instead of asking, “What should I stop doing?”I asked:“What haven’t I started yet?”“How can I do more of what I truly love?”“What’s possible that I’ve never even considered?”

Every Stage Has Its Own Mountain—And We Keep Climbing

I’ve lived through decades of reinvention.
Like most people, I’ve met the unique challenges of each life stage using the tools I had at the time. Whether it was:

  • Raising a family
  • Navigating career shifts
  • Recovering from loss
  • Starting over (again)

…I didn’t always feel ready. But I adapted.Because that’s what humans do.We evolve.

 The Myth of Decrepitude

Somewhere along the way, though, a quiet lie crept in.

A cultural whisper that says:

“The older you get, the less you can expect.”
“Sit down. Step back. Slow down.”
“You’ve had your turn.”

That’s the myth of decrepitude—the idea that age equals decline, disappearance, or irrelevance.

But what if more birthdays didn’t mean decay?
What if they meant:

  • More data
  • More discernment
  • More resilience
  • More lived wisdom

Every stage of life brings new questions. And every stage also contains the exact strength needed to powerfully respond to them.

 What the Longevity Experts Know

The science of longevity is flourishing—and not one credible voice is saying “give up.”

🧬 Dr. Peter Attia (Outlive)

“We must approach aging not with fatalism, but with strategy.”
He urges us to train for vitality—not vanity—and to treat our physicality as a long-term investment in purpose and precision.

Dr. Gabrielle Lyon

“Muscle is the organ of longevity.”
Lyon reminds us that muscle isn’t cosmetic—it’s critical—for metabolism, balance, brain health, and independence.

🌍 Dan Buettner (Blue Zones)

In the longest-living cultures on Earth, people don’t retire from purpose. They move. They learn. They contribute. They’re not counting down—they’re showing up.

After just three sessions, I stood taller — and people noticed. Pilates at Swan helped me reconnect with my body in a way that felt safe and empowering.
