“These essays are an extension of the work we do at Swan. They explore questions that arise from years of working with people and from my increasing interest in what allows us to preserve and expand our capability throughout our lives—not simply how well we exercise.”

The Body Is Always Learning

Our bodies are always learning—from what we repeat, what we avoid, the challenges we encounter, and the possibilities we explore. What feels permanent may sometimes be simply what has become familiar. This collection looks at how movement is learned, why having more than one way to solve a problem matters, and how new experiences can expand the options available to us. The invitation is not to assume that everything can change, but to remain curious about what might. Because when the body continues to learn, capability can continue to grow.
